VERSE ONE
Out of the mess, I can finally think, I turn back to see my soul drain down the sink,
Another me lacking clarity, alternate reality,
Mentality stuck in a systemic endemic, soon to be pandemic,
In other words, another black kid following trends, following friends,
Working dead-ends, to make ends meet,
I get a little change and my life’s complete for the week,
O.G’s I wanna be ‘em, page three’s I wanna see ‘em, gold chains, ice that should be me,
I’m trying to follow my destiny, I’m better than this,
There’s money fame and glory waiting, my breath I’m bating,
I’m suffocating in this life, it’s not for me, I can see,
But for the moment I’m stuck on the streets, feeling the beat,
When out of the chaff comes the wheat,
A girl defining perfection is walking in my direction,
I pull my hood for protection and try look bad,
Correction grimy, present turns to past as she walks by me,
I’m feeling tiny, a little slimy, got twenty men by me,
Yet I feel so alone, not at home, my only zones in my dome,
Roam cross stones, shown new tones,
But still whistling the same tunes,
A named tombs what I got to look forward to,
Unless I find my way soon.
HOOK
Why it don’t feel right? I took the wrong path,
I struck the wrong chord, back 2 da drawing board
Why it don’t feel right? I took the wrong path,
I struck the wrong chord, back 2 da drawing board.
Why it don’t feel right? I took the wrong path,
I struck the wrong chord, back 2 da drawing board.
Why it don’t feel right? I took the wrong path,
I struck the wrong chord, back 2 da drawing board.
VERSE TWO
Now, I’m gonna rise through the ranks,
Sick of getting peed on like Armitage Shanks,
See this game ain’t a joke, no-one playing the pranks,
No mercy or thanks, I’m walking a thin plank,
And within sank, my soul to the dank,
I think I’m happy though I’m breaking the bank,
I’m paying for skanks; I’m driving the tanks,
And all the while on the streets I’m selling the tranqs,
Doing well in this game, under my reign so much to gain,
Masking my pain I’m going insane,
Something’s not right, but I’m happy though,
Nah, nah, it don’t feel right,
What you, supposed to do when your life don’t feel right,
Waking up cold sweat middle of the night,
Riddle and plight of many, find my insight with Henny,
Cos pennies don’t give good hugs,
What you supposed to do when there’s a knocking at your door?
Those you looked up to kneeling on the floor,
Another O.G begging me for another piece,
Grown man tears in his eyes, help me please,
With no guidance where do I go?
My door to escape has finally closed,
Playing games with friends like guess who’s fake,
And I set trends so I get no breaks,
Under attack from all sides, wanna go back but it’s a closed ride,
It’s getting so black and I am so tired,
Jumping each other to stab me in the back,
All for another piece of crack,
I can’t take it, I can’t make it, I can’t fake it, I can’t break it and I hate it,
But I have to accept this life just don’t feel right,
It’s out of my range, and it’s too late to change.
*POINT OF INTEREST*
This song was written whilst I was in China and was the first song that helped me create my ‘style’.
It’s written about a dream or an alternate reality.
The line “Sick of getting peed on like Armitage Shanks” is referring to the urinals in male toilets made by the company (or man?!?) called Armitage Shanks, go see for yourself.
